Lights up.
Nothing is different except
that CAST TWO is gone.
One of the members of CAST
TWO trots on stage with a
chair. He drags it to center
stage. Other members then
bring out three more chairs
and a table. As they begin
to strike the other set CAST
THREE enters mid
conversation. CAST TWO exits
without finishing.

CAMILLE
So I just feel like it was a big failure. Sure people
recognize us for it, but it's pointless.

NICOLAS
But it was so much fun.

EMILY
Yeah.

GREGORY
Oh, Camille. What's done is done. If you are embarrassed
about it, just forget it. It's over.

CAMILLE
Were you embarrassed?

GREGORY
Sure, yes. I mean, I guess it was worth it but it did
something to make me feel inadequate.

NICOLAS
Gregory does not like to feel inadequate.

GREGORY
I like to have control over how people view me.

CAMILLE
You're just afraid of who you really are.

GREGORY
I am not.

CAMILLE
It's very common.

NICOLAS
Where's the goddamn waiter?

EMILY
Yeah. I'm thirsty.

NICOLAS
Oh, that's odd.

EMILY
What do you mean?

CAMILLE
Don't listen to him, Emily.

NICOLAS
You'd be content in life to have a bottomless glass of
wine at your side from morning until night.

EMILY
I would not.

GREGORY
This isn't a criticism, Em, we think it's charming.

CAMILLE
Pretentious bastards.

NICOLAS and EMILY make up
and kiss.

GREGORY
Lovely.

CAMILLE
The waiter must be lunching.

NICOLAS
We'll see. GARCON!

They wait.

NICOLAS
You'll get your drink. GARCON!

NICOLAS stands and begins to
search the space.

EMILY
Nicolas, sit down. He'll come.

CAMILLE
He'll get here when he gets here. Sit down.

MARK enters as a waiter.
NICOLAS walks slowly back to
his chair. MARK smiles and
goes to the table.

MARK
Hello, I'm Mark and I'll be your waiter. What are your
names?

GREGORY
Our names?

NICOLAS
Why do you want to know our names?

CAMILLE
I am Camille. It's nice to meet you Mark.

MARK
Enchante.

EMILY
I am Emily.

NICOLAS
This is absurd.

GREGORY
Is this the new thing now? Interactive waiters.

CAMILLE
This is Gregory and Nicolas.

MARK
And what do you guys do?

NICOLAS
Can we just get a bottle of wine please.

MARK
Oh yes, of course.

MARK exits.

GREGORY
Is that normal?

CAMILLE
I like it. I feel more at ease.

EMILY
Yes, he was nice.

NICOLAS
A waiter is supposed to wait, not start conversation.

CAMILLE
He is a person like you and I.

NICOLAS
Why don't you just ask him to join us then?

CAMILLE
Perhaps I will.

EMILY
Oh Camille, don't.

CAMILLE
This is crazy. Emily, he is a person.

NICOLAS
I dare you.

MARK reenters with a bottle
of wine and four glasses. He
pours them each a glass.

CAMILLE
Thank you Mark.

GREGORY
Yes, thank you.

MARK
No problem, Greg.

The others laugh.

MARK
What'd I do?

NICOLAS
No one calls him Greg.

GREGORY
That is not my name.

MARK
Sorry Gregory. What about you Nicolas. Is it always
Nicolas?

NICOLAS
Yes.

CAMILLE
Have you worked here long?

MARK
Me? No. I'm fairly new.

CAMILLE
Yes. I've never seen you here before.

MARK
Oh, so you guys are regulars.

CAMILLE
I guess we are.

GREGORY
Camille, what are you doing?

CAMILLE
I'm talking with Mark.

NICOLAS
He's the waiter. Camille.

CAMILLE
And? I'm sorry about this Mark. My acquaintances, here,
are snobs and would rather not be seen talking to a
waiter for longer than half a minute.

MARK
No, I understand. Should I go?

GREGORY
Yes.

NICOLAS
Yes.

CAMILLE
No. Stay. I'd like to talk with you. (To the others)
It's nice to meet new people.

	(NICOLAS downs his wine.)

NICOLAS
I'm leaving. It's almost auction time.

(GREGORY finishes his as well. EMILY has already
	finished.)

EMILY
Just leave him alone and finish your wine.

GREGORY
It's stuffy in here.

CAMILLE
I don't want it.

MARK
I'll take it.

GREGORY
Camille, are you coming to the auction or not?

CAMILLE
Not.

NICOLAS, GREGORY and EMILY
stand and begin to leave.

GREGORY
Okay, then.

EMILY
Is she asking to be ruined?

NICOLAS
No, she's just drunk.

GREGORY
I knew it.

They are gone. MARK sits at
the table, across from
CAMILLE. MARK takes off his
apron and downs a glass of
wine.

MARK
Thank you for being regular with me. I hate being looked
down upon.

CAMILLE
Yes, I figured that. I wasn't sure whether or not you
were trying to make fun of us.

MARK
No. I just like to meet new people. Let's go someplace
else. It's stuffy in here.

CAMILLE
Sure.

MARK grabs the bottle of
wine. CAMILLE exits with
MARK following her.
The lights do not change.
CAST ONE enters sneakily
into the space. They make
sure no one else is around.
Title: "Chasing a Bee"

MOTHER
Here's nobody.

FATHER
Extraordinary.

SON
What should we do?

DAUGHTER
Maybe we've been abandoned. Maybe they forgot to tell
us.

FATHER
They wouldn't forget to tell us.

MOTHER
Do you know where we are?

SON
No. It looks familiar.

FATHER
Everything looks the same.

DAUGHTER
It's creepy.

MOTHER
What if they send somebody for us and we're not around?

DAUGHTER
I bet they have. I bet we missed them.

FATHER
Don't be silly, we've been abandoned.

SON
That's that.

MOTHER
Maybe you're right.

FATHER
We are right.

SON
Where should we go now? I think we should stick
together.

DAUGHTER
Yes.

FATHER
I think that would be best for now.

SON
So you have no idea where we are?

FATHER
No.

DAUGHTER
Then how did we get here?

FATHER
We walked. I don't know.

SON
I think we should just pick a direction and go.

FATHER
I think that would be best.

MOTHER
Do we know our way back?

SON
Why? That's done. We're done with that.

MOTHER
Well what will we do?

FATHER
We'll just find a place. We'll integrate.

SON
Integrate.

MOTHER
When?

DAUGHTER
But they might need to find us.

SON
Don't worry about that anymore. We are going to be fine.
It'll be great. You'll see. Integration.

MOTHER
I don't like this sneaking around.

FATHER
We just have to make sure we are safe.

DAUGHTER
What was that noise?

There is the sound of
walking and talking.
DAUGHTER hides, dragging
MOTHER with her. SON backs
off. FATHER doesn't have
time enough to think about
it. CAMILLE and MARK enter
mid-conversation.

CAMILLE
But the pool had been so much as looked at in at least
three months.

MARK
Oh, that's... great.

MARK sees FATHER and SON
then takes a few disturbed
steps back. CAMILLE is not
affected.

CAMILLE
Hello. You look confused.

FATHER
I just, I.

CAMILLE
Is anything wrong?

SON
Nope.

MARK
Camille, what are you doing? Don't talk to him. Come on,
let's go.

CAMILLE
	(To MARK)
What is wrong with you?
	(To FATHER)
Are you lost?

FATHER
Yes, no. Just. Me and my friends. We don't. We aren't
sure where we are. Yes. We're lost. I guess.

SON
We're just wandering, you know?

CAMILLE
Where are your friends? Where are you going?

FATHER
We don't know. We were just... It's a long story.
They're all back there. Come on out. It's okay.

SON
	(Quietly to his friends.)
Integration.

The rest of CAST ONE is
revealed but they stay back.

MARK
Let's go. Leave them alone.

CAMILLE
Mark, have a heart. Isn't this what we've been talking
about?

MARK
Sure, but they could be dangerous.

SON
Don't worry. We're not dangerous.

CAMILLE
Alright then, where were you headed?

MOTHER
Um, we're not sure.

FATHER
We were just wandering.

SON
We don't have any specific place to go.

CAMILLE
Well, you look tired. Do you need someplace to sit for a
while? You could come with us.

MOTHER
Yes, sure. That would be great.

FATHER
Thank you. But no.

SON
We just want to go a little a further, we'll be fine. We
don't need any help.

MOTHER
Well, I would like to go with you, if that's alright.

DAUGHTER
Me too.

CAMILLE
Fantastic.

FATHER
We said we would stay together.

MOTHER
Then come with us.

FATHER
No. You come with us.

MOTHER
We are going with her. You guys just go ahead.

SON
Okay. Sure.

FATHER
Alright. Bye.

FATHER exits with SON
following.

CAMILLE
I didn't want to cause any problems.

MOTHER
It's probably better.

MARK
I didn't like them anyway.

CAMILLE
No problem. Let's go.

DAUGHTER
Hi.

Blackout.
